After binging the TV series ‘High Fidelity’, I came to appreciate the art of curating a playlist. I missed the days when I would burn songs onto CDs and exchange them with friends. It acts like a time capsule that is filled with nostalgia, and good vibes. I love making and naming playlists for working, pre-events, drawing, and long walks.

Listen to your heart

The sketch began with Petal listening to music via headphones. Lost in her world. Choosing and discovering music as guided by her “record heart”.

Extending her world, I envisioned her in a record store. To support the narrative, I chose to use various anime-influenced emotive faces as album covers. (Please excuse the messy brush work. I intend to vectorise this series… one day!).

Evoking serenity and warmth, I added in a setting sunlight that softly peered through the windows. (To learn how the character and style developed, read Part 1).
