Overview

This was part of the larger onboarding for IT teams flow for Jira Service Management. We needed a way to onboard IT teams on how to use a 'Project' in the same way they were used to a 'Service desk'. A short animated GIF was the best way to communicate this, and it was shown to the user before they went into the 'Create project' flow.

Key Challenges

• It always a challenge to explain complex things in a concise way. There was many iterations as we focused on keeping the animated GIF as short and helpful as possible.

• It was not immediately clear how we could make this animated GIF accessible. It was important to the team that language translation would be supported. In the end we landed on technical solution that allowed us to export in a JSON format.

Learnings

• A small detail in the scale of what the onboarding project hoped to achieve. But I believe these small details are how we show our customers we care.

• I'm always dedicated to improving my craft and I was really proud when I figured out how to export my animations to JSON
